What role does the player take in Splatoon Raiders?

The player takes the role of a mechanic in Splatoon Raiders.

The Mechanic is the game’s customizable protagonist and works alongside Deep Cut—the Splatoon 3 trio of Shiver, Frye, and Big Man. Rather than controlling one of the established idols, players guide this new character through a single-player adventure focused on exploration, salvage, combat, and equipment upgrades.

The occupation matters to the game’s design. The Mechanic uses gadgets, ink-based weapons, vehicles, and an exploration bot to travel across the islands and recover useful materials. Salvaged parts and treasure help improve the character’s abilities and expand the tools available during later raids.

A common mix-up is to assume the protagonist is an Inkling with a named identity from an earlier campaign, or that Deep Cut members are the playable characters. They are companions and story characters, while the player’s role is specifically the Mechanic.
