What people conquered Narnia before the events of Prince Caspian?
Answer
Telmarines
Answer
Telmarines
The people who conquered Narnia before the events of *Prince Caspian* were the Telmarines.
The Telmarines came from Telmar, a land west of Narnia, and invaded Narnia generations before the novel begins. They displaced and suppressed many of the native inhabitants, including talking animals and other beings from Old Narnia. By the time of the story, Telmarine rule has lasted for roughly 300 years.
King Miraz governs Narnia when the Pevensie children return. He has seized the throne after arranging the death of his brother, Caspian IX, and tries to eliminate Prince Caspian when an heir is born. Caspian escapes and allies himself with the surviving Old Narnians.
The other options belong to different parts of Narnia’s world: Dufflepuds are enchanted island inhabitants, Archenlanders live in Archenland, and Calormenes are associated with the southern empire of Calormen. The Telmarines are also unusual because Lewis describes their ancestors as pirates from Earth who entered the Narnian world through a magical passage.
