What parade did Disneyland and Walt Disney World present for the United States Bicentennial?

The story behind the answer

Disneyland and Walt Disney World presented America on Parade for the United States Bicentennial.

The parade was created for Disneyland’s 20th anniversary, the Magic Kingdom’s fifth anniversary, and the national Bicentennial celebration. It debuted in 1975 and continued through 1976, replacing the Main Street Electrical Parade for its seasonal runs.

America on Parade used floats, costumed performers, music, and historical themes to present a colorful version of American history and culture. It was staged during the afternoon and again before the evening fireworks. The parade traveled through Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida.

The Sherman Brothers wrote “The Glorious Fourth” as its featured Bicentennial song, but that title belongs to the song rather than the parade. A 1976 television special also brought the production to a wider audience.
