What Oreo variety with about double the normal creme filling was introduced in 1974?

The story behind the answer

The Oreo variety introduced in 1974 with about double the normal crème filling was Double Stuf Oreo.

Double Stuf was created as a more indulgent version of Nabisco’s original sandwich cookie. Its defining feature is the increased white crème layer between the two chocolate wafers, while the cookie’s familiar overall shape and branding remain largely unchanged. The name is styled “Stuf,” without the second f in “Stuff.”

It is often confused with Mega Stuf, which arrived much later and contains even more crème, or with The Most Stuf, a limited-edition product marketed with roughly four times the filling of a standard Oreo. Golden Oreo is different again: it uses vanilla-flavored wafers instead of the traditional chocolate ones.

Double Stuf has also appeared in several flavored and seasonal versions. In the United Kingdom, the comparable product has generally been called Double Creme Oreo, illustrating how Oreo names can vary between markets.
