A last doll is sometimes given to a quinceañera to symbolize leaving childhood behind.
The final-doll ritual presents the celebrant with a doll as a symbolic reminder of childhood. The idea is that, at age 15, she is moving toward a more mature stage of life, so the doll represents the last one associated with childhood.
The object may be presented by a parent, godparent, or another family member. In some celebrations, the quinceañera later gives the doll to a younger sibling or child, although that detail is not universal. Families may also replace the doll with another keepsake.
The last doll is one of several optional quinceañera rituals. A formal Mass, shoe change, tiara presentation, bouquet, or special dance may appear instead or alongside it. These customs often overlap, but no single program defines every quinceañera.
