Harley-Davidson’s dominant factory flat-track racing team was nicknamed the Wrecking Crew.
The name became associated with a highly successful group of Harley-Davidson riders who competed in American dirt-track racing, particularly during the 1970s. Their success helped cement Harley-Davidson’s reputation in the rough, close-fought form of racing that became known as American flat track.
The team’s fame was closely tied to riders such as Scott Parker, Jay Springsteen, and other leading Harley-Davidson competitors. Harley-Davidson’s racing success also supported the development and promotion of racing motorcycles such as the XR-750.
“Wrecking Crew” refers to the team identity, not a particular motorcycle model or engine. That distinction matters because Harley-Davidson racing history includes several famous machines whose names are often discussed alongside the team.
