A quinceañera’s formal presentation at the celebration is commonly called a presentación.
Presentación means “presentation” in Spanish. It describes the moment when the young woman is formally introduced to guests, often after entering with parents, relatives, or her court of honor. The exact sequence varies by country, family, and venue.
The presentation may be part of a reception rather than a church service. It can be followed by a waltz, speeches, a toast, or other symbolic customs. Some contemporary celebrations use a less formal entrance while still preserving the idea of recognition before family and friends.
Presentación is not the same as coronación, or crowning, although a tiara or crown may appear in some celebrations. Nor is it a graduation ceremony; the quinceañera marks age fifteen rather than completion of a school program.
