Douglas Gresham coined the name Lilliandil for Ramandu’s daughter in the 2010 film The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
In C. S. Lewis’s novel, the character is never given a personal name. She is identified through titles such as Ramandu’s daughter, the Lady, and Caspian’s Queen. The film adaptation supplied “Lilliandil” as her name, with Australian actress Laura Brent playing the role.
The film also emphasizes her celestial identity. She appears as the Blue Star shining over Ramandu’s Island and guides the Dawn Treader’s crew toward the island and the dangerous Dark Island. Gresham, Lewis’s stepson and a producer connected with the Narnia films, said the name was intended to evoke the book’s imagery of lilies and to sound feminine and ethereal.
Lilliandil should therefore be treated as a film-specific name, not as a name Lewis used in the original novel. In Narnian history, she later becomes Caspian X’s queen and the mother of Prince Rilian.
