What metal are Wolverine claws coated with?

Wolverine's claws are coated with adamantium, the virtually indestructible fictional metal from Marvel Comics.

Wolverine was born with retractable claws made of bone. During the Weapon X program, scientists molecularly bonded adamantium to his entire skeleton, including the claws. The metal made them extraordinarily durable and able to cut through most ordinary metals, wood, and stone.

Adamantium first appeared in Marvel comics in The Avengers #66 in 1969, initially as the material used for Ultron's outer shell. It later became most closely associated with Wolverine. A common mix-up is confusing adamantium with vibranium, the fictional metal linked especially to Captain America's shield and Black Panther's equipment. Wolverine's claws are adamantium, although some stories introduce variations and exceptions involving other powerful materials.
