Quidditch is the magical sport played throughout J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.
The game is played by two teams of seven players who fly on broomsticks. Players use three types of balls: a Quaffle, two Bludgers, and a Golden Snitch.
A team scores 10 points by sending the Quaffle through one of three opposing goal hoops. Catching the Golden Snitch scores 150 points and usually ends the match, although the team with the most points wins.
Harry plays Seeker for Gryffindor. Quidditch scenes are important both as sporting episodes and as ways to develop school rivalries, friendships, and character choices.
