The Pinterest logo resembles the letter P.
Pinterest’s familiar red circular icon contains a stylized white letter P. The shape is also designed to suggest a map pin, matching the platform’s name and its idea of pinning images, links, and other discoveries to personal boards.
The current symbol developed from Pinterest’s early branding, which used a red script wordmark and a more detailed pin-like emblem. The simplified icon is especially useful as a mobile-app mark because it remains recognizable at very small sizes.
A frequent mistake is to identify the symbol only as a map pin or only as a lowercase letter. It deliberately combines both associations: the main visible letter is P, while the pointed lower form recalls a physical pin. That double reading is central to the logo’s design.
