The Choco Taco combined a folded waffle-cone shell with vanilla ice cream, fudge or chocolate flavoring, peanuts, and a milk-chocolate coating. It was sold under the Klondike name and promoted as “The Original Ice Cream Taco,” making its taco shape part of the product’s identity rather than merely a marketing nickname.

Alan Drazen developed the idea in Philadelphia in 1983 while working for Jack & Jill Ice Cream. The product rolled out in 1984 through mobile ice-cream vendors, then expanded nationally after Jack & Jill partnered with Gold Bond Ice Cream in 1985. Unilever later acquired the brand, which became associated with Good Humor-Breyers. Klondike discontinued the Choco Taco in 2022, so it is now best known as a nostalgic novelty rather than a regularly available freezer treat.
