What kind of storm causes the group to crash-land?

A hurricane-like storm causes the group to crash-land in Splatoon Raiders. The game's plot presents it as a strange, powerful storm associated with spiraling clouds around a mysterious golden glow over the Spirhalite Islands.

Deep Cut—Shiver, Frye, and Big Man—is traveling by helicopter with the Mechanic when the phenomenon intensifies. The glow abruptly pulses, drawing in the helicopter and surrounding fog. The aircraft loses control, and the crew is forced to land on the islands rather than reaching its intended destination.

“Hurricane-like” describes the storm's appearance and destructive force, not necessarily a formally named real-world hurricane. Nintendo's official material generally calls it a “strange storm,” while descriptions of the plot emphasize its cyclone-like or spiraling character. The storm is also an important mystery: later discoveries connect it to the islands' hidden power and the larger threat facing the Salmonids.
