A Mass may take place before a religious quinceañera reception.
In Catholic families, the religious service is commonly called a quinceañera Mass or Misa de acción de gracias. It gives the celebrant and family an opportunity to give thanks and receive a blessing as part of the fifteenth-birthday observance.
The Mass may include the presentation of a Bible, rosary, or other religious items. The celebrant can also participate in readings or stand with her court, depending on parish practice.
A Mass is not required for every quinceañera. Many families hold a secular ceremony or reception, and practices differ across countries and denominations. The religious service is therefore one important tradition rather than a universal component.
