The White Rabbit drops a fan, and Alice uses it to shrink in Alice in Wonderland.
After Alice eats the cake marked “Eat Me,” she grows so large that she becomes trapped in the White Rabbit’s house. The Rabbit mistakes her for a monster and calls for help, while Alice searches for a way out. During the commotion, the White Rabbit drops a fan along with his gloves.
Alice picks up the fan and waves it, discovering that it makes her shrink again. The transformation sends her into the pool formed by her own tears, beginning another surreal episode with the Mouse and other creatures. Viewers sometimes confuse the fan with the White Rabbit’s pocket watch, which establishes his hurried character at the start of the story, or with the bottle that initially makes Alice smaller.
