What is the virtual currency used in Roblox?

The story behind the answer

Robux is the virtual currency used in Roblox. Players can buy Robux with real-world money and spend it on avatar items, accessories, game passes, and access to experiences that charge an entry fee.

Roblox is more than a single game: it is a platform where users create and play millions of experiences through Roblox Studio. Robux connects that user-generated ecosystem, allowing creators to sell virtual goods and in-game content. Eligible developers can convert earned Robux into real-world money through Roblox's Developer Exchange program.

Robux was not always Roblox's only currency. For much of the platform's early history, users also earned and spent Tickets, commonly called Tix. Roblox removed Tickets in 2016, partly because the company believed having two currencies confused newer players.

Players should also distinguish Robux from Roblox Premium. Premium is a subscription service that can provide monthly Robux and other benefits; it is not itself a currency. Likewise, virtual items and game passes are things purchased with Robux, rather than alternative names for the currency.
