What is the title of the first episode of Book 2?

The first episode of Book 2 is titled “Rebel Spirit.” It opens Book Two: Spirits, the second season of The Legend of Korra, and is the series’ 13th episode overall. The episode premiered on Nickelodeon on September 13, 2013, about six months after the end of Book One: Air.

The story begins with Korra believing she has mastered airbending and preparing to spend time with Tenzin’s family in the Southern Water Tribe. The visit introduces Unalaq, chief of the Northern Water Tribe and Korra’s uncle. He criticizes the South’s loss of spiritual traditions and offers to train Korra in dealing with spirits.

The title refers to Korra’s confrontation with an angry spirit during the Glacier Spirits Festival. Neither Korra nor the other benders can stop it, but Unalaq calms it through spiritbending. Impressed by his ability, Korra chooses him as her spiritual teacher instead of continuing with Tenzin’s guidance.

Viewers sometimes confuse this title with “The Southern Lights,” which aired immediately afterward as Book Two’s second episode. “Welcome to Republic City” and “A Leaf in the Wind” belong to Book One: Air.
