What is the title of the 2024 sequel to Gladiator?

The 2024 sequel to Gladiator is titled Gladiator II. Directed by Ridley Scott, it follows Lucius Verus, the nephew of Commodus and the son of Lucilla, years after the events of the 2000 original. Paul Mescal plays the adult Lucius, while Connie Nielsen returns as Lucilla.

The sequel expands the original film's political and military world, moving from the legacy of Maximus to a new generation confronting Rome's imperial power. Its cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, and Denzel Washington. David Scarpa wrote the screenplay from a story developed with Peter Craig.

Gladiator II premiered in Sydney on October 30, 2024, before its wider theatrical release in November. It was distributed worldwide by Paramount Pictures, unlike the original film's distribution arrangement. The title is straightforward, but it is sometimes informally written as Gladiator 2; the official stylized title uses Roman numerals: Gladiator II. A possible third film, Gladiator III, has also been discussed by Scott.
