What is the title of the 2002 game that continues the story of Kyle Katarn?

The story behind the answer

The 2002 game that continues Kyle Katarn’s story is Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

Developed by Raven Software, Jedi Outcast is the third main entry in the Jedi Knight series and follows 1997’s Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. The story takes place in 12 ABY, after Return of the Jedi, with Katarn working as a mercenary for the New Republic after temporarily severing his connection to the Force.

The game begins more like a first-person shooter, using firearms and exploration, but gradually restores Katarn’s lightsaber abilities and Force powers. Its lightsaber combat became the defining feature, with fast, medium, and strong fighting styles. The campaign also features Jan Ors, Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, and the Dark Jedi Desann.

It is often confused with Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, released in 2003. Jedi Academy follows Jaden Korr and is a later sequel, whereas Jedi Outcast is the game that directly continues Katarn’s story after Dark Forces II and Mysteries of the Sith.
