J.K. Rowling’s 2020 children’s fantasy novel about the mythical Ickabog is titled The Ickabog.
The story is set in the fictional kingdom of Cornucopia, where the legendary Ickabog is said to inhabit a remote marshland. Two children, Bert and Daisy, become involved in uncovering the truth behind the creature and the kingdom’s political problems.
Rowling released The Ickabog online as a free serial in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. She later published the completed story as a book, with illustrations selected through a children’s drawing competition. Rowling donated royalties from the book to support projects helping people affected by the pandemic.
The Ickabog is separate from the Harry Potter novels and from the Fantastic Beasts screenplay series. It is also different from The Christmas Pig, another Rowling children’s novel, which was published in 2021.
