Chambelanes is a Spanish term for the formal court of young men accompanying a quinceañera.
A quinceañera’s court traditionally includes young women called damas and young men called chambelanes. The court may enter with her, participate in a choreographed waltz, and help create the formal presentation associated with the reception.
Terminology varies by country and family. Alternative names for male attendants include chambelán de honor and, in some regions, terms influenced by English usage. The court is not the same as the padrinos, who are sponsors or honored adults connected with the celebration.
The number and role of attendants are flexible. Contemporary quinceañeras may have a mixed-gender court, a smaller group, or no court at all while retaining other traditions.
