What is the Spanish masculine form corresponding to quinceañera?

The story behind the answer

The Spanish masculine form corresponding to quinceañera is quinceañero.

Quinceañera is the feminine form associated with a girl or young woman celebrating fifteen years, while quinceañero is the masculine counterpart. Both terms are built from the idea of quince años, or fifteen years.

The feminine celebration is much more widely recognized and standardized in popular culture than celebrations for boys. Still, some families and communities organize comparable fifteenth-birthday events for boys, sometimes using quinceañero to describe the honoree or the occasion.

This term should not be confused with chambelán, which traditionally identifies a male member or escort in a quinceañera court. The honoree’s title and a court member’s title describe different roles.
