What is the sixth planet from the sun?

The story behind the answer

The sixth planet from the Sun is Saturn.

Saturn lies beyond Jupiter and before Uranus in the Solar System’s planetary order. It is a gas giant composed primarily of hydrogen and helium, with no solid surface like Earth’s. Saturn is the second-largest planet, surpassed only by Jupiter, and is especially recognizable for its extensive ring system.

The rings are made largely of water-ice particles mixed with rocky and dusty material. Saturn also has a large and varied moon system, including Titan, which has a dense atmosphere and lakes and seas of liquid methane, and Enceladus, whose icy surface vents water-rich plumes.

People sometimes confuse planetary order with size: Jupiter is fifth from the Sun and largest, while Saturn is sixth and second-largest. NASA’s Cassini spacecraft entered orbit in 2004 and studied Saturn and its moons until the mission ended in 2017.
