What is the racing number of Marc Márquez?

The story behind the answer

The racing number of Marc Márquez is 93.

Márquez selected No. 93 because he was born in 1993. The number became one of MotoGP’s most recognisable symbols as he rose through the junior classes and reached the premier category with Repsol Honda in 2013. He won the MotoGP championship in his rookie season, making 93 strongly identified with his riding style and career.

Although reigning world champions are allowed to race with No. 1, Márquez has consistently retained 93 rather than replacing it with the champion’s number. This is a common MotoGP mix-up: No. 1 represents the title holder, while a rider’s permanent number is a personal brand and career identity.

Márquez’s number has also changed visually with his teams. During his Honda years, it was commonly presented in white on red; after moving to Ducati, the branding shifted to red lettering. His official fan identity, WeAre93, uses the same number.
