What is the only living species in the aardvark order Tubulidentata?

The story behind the answer

The aardvark is the only living species in the mammalian order Tubulidentata.

Tubulidentata means “tube teeth,” referring to the aardvark’s unusual teeth. Instead of having the layered enamel and roots typical of many mammal teeth, its teeth consist of many tiny, tube-like structures filled with dentine. The teeth continuously grow and are worn down as the animal feeds.

Aardvarks are nocturnal African mammals that live in savannas, grasslands, woodlands, and scrub. Their long snouts, powerful claws, and sticky tongues help them excavate and consume ants and termites. They can also dig extensive burrows, which provide shelter for themselves and are later used by other animals.

Despite superficial similarities, aardvarks are not closely related to pigs, anteaters, or pangolins. Their closest living relatives include elephants, hyraxes, manatees, and several other members of the Afrotheria group.
