What is the only country whose entire territory lies above 1,000 metres elevation?

The story behind the answer

Lesotho is the only country whose entire territory lies above 1,000 metres elevation.

Lesotho is a landlocked kingdom completely surrounded by South Africa. Its lowest point is about 1,400 metres above sea level, making it the country with the highest lowest point in the world. This is why it is often called the Kingdom in the Sky.

The country is dominated by the Maloti and Drakensberg mountain systems. Its highlands contain rugged valleys, plateaus, and peaks, while the western lowlands are lower than the rest of Lesotho but still exceed 1,000 metres.

Maseru, the capital, sits near the western border and is in the lowland region. Lesotho's elevation contributes to cold winters, including snowfall in the mountains. Ethiopia, Bhutan, and Rwanda all have high terrain, but each also contains land below 1,000 metres.
