What is the official release date of Valorant?

Valorant was officially released for Windows on June 2, 2020.

Riot Games launched Valorant as a free-to-play tactical hero shooter after a limited closed beta. The game was first revealed under the codename Project A in 2019, then officially announced in March 2020. Its closed beta began on April 7 and ended on May 28, only a few days before the worldwide launch.

The release date is often confused with the beta dates. April 7, 2020, marks the start of the closed beta, while May 28 marks the beta’s shutdown. June 2 is the date the full PC version became available across most regions through a staggered rollout. The launch included the initial live-service version of the game rather than a traditional paid boxed release.

Valorant later expanded beyond its original Windows-only release. Riot launched console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2024, but those versions have separate competitive environments and do not cross-play with PC. Those later launches do not change the game’s official original release date.
