What is the official name of the female narrator in Taylor Swift’s “august”?
Answer
She is unnamed
The female narrator in Taylor Swift’s “august” is officially unnamed.
The character is the third point in the Folklore love triangle involving James and Betty. Unlike those two characters, she is not given a name in the song’s lyrics or narrative.
Swift has discussed imagining names such as Augusta or Augustine for the character. Those labels became popular ways for fans to identify her, but they are not an official name established by the song itself.
This distinction matters because the track is often casually described as being about “Augustine.” That term is a fan and interpretive identifier, while the most precise answer is that the narrator remains unnamed.
