What is the official name of Tesla's first Gigafactory?

Tesla’s first Gigafactory was officially designated Gigafactory 1. The facility is located in Storey County, Nevada, near Reno and Sparks, and is now commonly called Gigafactory Nevada or Giga Nevada.

Tesla announced the Nevada project in 2014 as a major battery-manufacturing partnership with Panasonic. The factory was designed to produce lithium-ion battery cells, battery packs, electric motors and vehicle powertrain components at very large scale. Its expansion was intended to reduce battery costs through volume production and manufacturing integration.

“Gigafactory Nevada” is the location-based name Tesla often uses today, while “Gigafactory 1” is the original numbered designation and remains a valid canonical answer to this question. It should not be confused with Gigafactory 2 in Buffalo, New York, which was associated with solar products, or later facilities in Shanghai, Berlin and Texas.
