The player character in Star Wars: Republic Commando is nicknamed Boss. He is formally identified as RC-1138, or Delta 38, and serves as the leader of the elite four-member Delta Squad.
Boss is the viewpoint character throughout the first-person shooter. Players command the squad while completing missions during the Clone Wars, including operations on Geonosis, the Acclamator-class ship Prosecutor, Kashyyyk and other battlefronts.
His three squadmates are Scorch, the explosives specialist; Fixer, the technical expert; and Sev, the sniper. Their nicknames are easy to confuse because all four are clone commandos and their armor and military designations are closely related.
The game’s story belongs to the Star Wars Legends continuity. Boss and Delta Squad later appeared in related novels and reference works, while Boss also made a brief appearance in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His nickname reflects his position as squad leader, not his genetic identity.
