What is the name of Wimbledon's second-largest show court?

The story behind the answer

Wimbledon's second-largest show court is Court 1. It is the tournament's principal court after Centre Court and hosts major singles and doubles matches during The Championships.

The current Court 1 stadium opened in 1997, replacing an older No. 1 Court that stood beside Centre Court. The new court was built slightly away from the original site and was designed to provide greater seating capacity and improved spectator facilities. Its name is usually written as “No. 1 Court,” although “Court 1” is a perfectly clear quiz answer.

A common mix-up is Court 2, which is another important Wimbledon venue but is smaller and lower in the court hierarchy. Court 1 has also joined Centre Court among Wimbledon's roofed show courts: construction of its retractable roof began after the 2017 Championships, and the roof was ready for the 2019 tournament. The stadium seats 12,345 spectators, making it one of the most recognisable tennis arenas in Britain.
