What is the name of the wizarding sport created by J.K. Rowling in which players score through hoops?

The story behind the answer

Quidditch is the wizarding sport created by J.K. Rowling in which players score through hoops.

In the Harry Potter books, two teams play while flying on broomsticks. A team normally has seven players: three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker. Chasers try to put the Quaffle through one of three opposing hoops, while Beaters use bats to redirect Bludgers.

The Seeker's special objective is to catch the Golden Snitch. Catching it usually ends the match and awards 150 points, so the Seeker can determine the result even when the other players have built a large score. The fictional sport combines several magical balls and specialized positions.

Quidditch should not be confused with wizard chess or Gobstones, which are separate fictional games. The name was later adopted by real-world broomstick sports, although those adaptations use modified rules and cannot involve actual flight.
