What is the name of the wizarding bank in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series?

The story behind the answer

Gringotts is the wizarding bank in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

Gringotts Wizarding Bank is located in Diagon Alley and is operated by goblins. It stores wizarding money and valuables in heavily protected underground vaults beneath the bank.

Harry first visits Gringotts with Rubeus Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Hagrid retrieves an object from a vault while Harry accesses the fortune left to him by his parents.

The bank later becomes central to the series’ final stages. Harry, Ron, and Hermione break into Bellatrix Lestrange’s vault to find a Horcrux, making Gringotts one of the story’s most important locations.
