What is the name of the US stock exchange located on Wall Street?
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
Answer
New York Stock Exchange
The US stock exchange located on Wall Street is the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
The NYSE is based in New York City’s Financial District. Its landmark complex includes the 1903 building at 18 Broad Street and the adjoining 11 Wall Street structure, completed in 1922. The exchange is often nicknamed “the Big Board.”
The NYSE’s origins reach back to May 17, 1792, when 24 brokers signed the Buttonwood Agreement. That pact organized securities trading and helped establish the institution that became the modern exchange. It is now owned by Intercontinental Exchange.
A common mix-up is NASDAQ, another major US exchange. NASDAQ is a separate, electronic marketplace rather than the exchange traditionally identified with Wall Street’s historic trading district.
