What is the name of the Super Bowl trophy?

The story behind the answer

What is the name of the Super Bowl trophy? The Super Bowl trophy is called the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

The award is named for Vince Lombardi, the legendary Green Bay Packers coach who led his team to victories in the first two Super Bowls. Lombardi died in 1970, and the trophy was renamed in his honor later that year. Before the renaming, it was presented as the World Professional Football Championship trophy.

Tiffany & Co. designed and produced the trophy. Its original concept came from a sketch made during a 1966 lunch with NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle; the design shows a football in a kicking position mounted on a three-sided stand. The trophy is made of sterling silver, stands about 22 inches tall, and weighs roughly 7 pounds.

Unlike the Stanley Cup, a new Lombardi Trophy is made for every Super Bowl champion. The winning team keeps its trophy permanently, while smaller replicas are produced for players and other members of the organization. The trophy is engraved with the Super Bowl numeral, participating teams, date, location, and final score.
