What is the name of the step pyramid at the ancient Maya city of Chichén Itzá?

The story behind the answer

The step pyramid at the ancient Maya city of Chichén Itzá is called El Castillo.

El Castillo, also known as the Temple of Kukulcán, dominates the Great North Platform at Chichén Itzá in Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. The visible pyramid was built by the Maya, probably during the 11th to 13th centuries, over earlier structures. Its four stairways lead to a summit temple.

The pyramid has 365 steps when the steps on all four sides are counted with the temple platform, a number associated with the solar year. During the equinoxes, sunlight creates a triangular shadow pattern along the northern stairway. This effect is commonly described as a serpent descending the pyramid, linking the monument with Kukulcán.

El Castillo is not the same as the Pyramid of the Magician at Uxmal or the Temple of the Inscriptions at Palenque. Those are different Maya monuments in different ancient cities.
