What is the name of the stadium where the New York Yankees play?
Answer
Yankee Stadium
Answer
Yankee Stadium
The New York Yankees play their home games at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York City. The current stadium opened in 2009 and replaced the original Yankee Stadium.
The present ballpark sits on the former site of Macombs Dam Park, one block north of the original stadium. It was designed with visual references to the first Yankee Stadium, including the famous frieze along the upper deck, while adding modern amenities and expanded concourses. The venue’s address is 1 East 161st Street, near the 161st Street–Yankee Stadium subway station.
The original Yankee Stadium opened in 1923 and hosted the Yankees until 2008, apart from the 1974–75 seasons, when the club played at Shea Stadium during renovations. That earlier building was closely associated with Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio and many of the franchise’s greatest championship teams.
Although Yankee Stadium is primarily a baseball venue, it also hosts concerts, college football and soccer. Major League Soccer’s New York City FC has used it as a home venue since 2015. The stadium has hosted World Series games in 2009 and 2024.
