What is the name of the ship in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader?
Answer
Dawn Treader
Answer
Dawn Treader
The ship in The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is called the Dawn Treader.
The Dawn Treader is King Caspian X’s ship and the vessel that carries the main expedition across Narnia’s Great Eastern Ocean. Caspian undertakes the voyage to search for seven Narnian lords who disappeared after being sent east by his predecessor, King Caspian IX.
Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their cousin Eustace Scrubb, reach the ship through a magical painting of a ship at sea. The ship is captained by Lord Drinian, while the crew includes the courageous mouse Reepicheep. Their journey takes them through strange islands and increasingly mysterious waters toward the edge of the world.
The title can be confused with famous vessels from other adventures. The Nautilus belongs to Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas, the Hispaniola to Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, and the Pequod to Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. Dawn Treader is both the novel’s title phrase and the name of the Narnian ship.
