Answer

What is the name of the serial killer in The Dead Zone? Frank Dodd is the answer.
In Stephen King's 1979 novel, Dodd is a deputy working under Castle Rock sheriff George Bannerman. He secretly operates as the Castle Rock Strangler, using his position inside law enforcement to follow the investigation and avoid suspicion. His crimes span several years and include the murders of six women and girls between 1970 and 1975.
After a nine-year-old girl is killed, Bannerman asks Johnny Smith for help. Johnny has recently awakened from a coma of nearly five years and can experience psychic impressions through touch. At the murder scene, his ability leads him to identify Dodd as the killer. Dodd is cornered at home and commits suicide, leaving a confession written in lipstick on his neck.
Frank Dodd is sometimes confused with Greg Stillson, the ambitious politician who forms the novel's other major threat. Dodd belongs to the Castle Rock murder plot, while Stillson drives Johnny's later political and moral crisis. The 1983 film also retains Dodd, played by Nicholas Campbell.
