What is the name of the race car who stars in Pixar’s Cars?

Lightning McQueen is the race car who stars in Pixar’s Cars.

He begins the 2006 film as a talented but self-centered rookie competing for the Piston Cup. After accidentally damaging Radiator Springs’ main road, he is ordered to repair it before leaving town. His relationships with Doc Hudson, Sally Carrera, and Mater gradually change his priorities.

Lightning’s design combines elements associated with American stock cars and stylized racing vehicles. His number is 95, a reference to 1995, the year Pixar released Toy Story, its first feature film. He is voiced by Owen Wilson in the Cars films.

Lightning McQueen returns as the central character in Cars 2 and Cars 3. Jackson Storm is his younger rival in Cars 3, while Chick Hicks is his aggressive competitor in the original film. Cal Weathers is another racer introduced in Cars 3.
