What is the name of the quinceañera’s formal honor court?

The story behind the answer

The quinceañera’s formal honor court is called the Court of Honor.

The court is a group of relatives or friends who accompany the celebrant during formal parts of the event. Depending on regional and family customs, its members may be called damas, chambelanes, or other local terms. The group may participate in the entrance, a choreographed dance, photographs, and the reception.

The Court of Honor is not a fixed-size institution. Some celebrations have many attendants, while others have only a few or none. Families may also choose a mixed-gender group, a group of close friends, or a court made entirely of relatives.

Because customs differ, the court should not be confused with a wedding party, even though formal clothing, coordinated entrances, and rehearsed dances can make the two look similar.
