The mascot in the Reddit logo is named Snoo.
Snoo is Reddit’s alien-like character, usually drawn with a white body, a simple smiling face, and an orange-red antenna. The name combines “Reddit” with the phrase “What’s new?” and connects the mascot to the site’s original question-and-discussion concept. Snoo is commonly shown inside Reddit’s circular orange logo.
Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian sketched the character before the site launched in 2005. Snoo’s design was intentionally simple so users could adapt it for different communities, events, and themes. Reddit has since used many customized versions of Snoo while keeping the basic character recognizable.
Snoo is often confused with mascots from other internet platforms, especially Discord’s Clyde or GitHub’s Octocat. Those characters belong to separate services. Reddit’s voting arrows and orange color are also important parts of its interface, but neither is the name of its mascot.
