The main protagonist in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II is The Exile, also called the Jedi Exile. Unlike a fixed-name hero, this character’s identity, gender, appearance, and moral alignment are shaped by the player.
The Exile was formerly a Jedi Knight who served under Revan during the Mandalorian Wars. At the Battle of Malachor V, the character ordered the activation of the Mass Shadow Generator, a devastating weapon that caused enormous destruction. The trauma severed the Exile’s connection to the Force, and the Jedi Council responded by exiling them from the Order.
Kreia is an important mentor and eventual antagonist, while Bastila and Revan belong primarily to the first Knights of the Old Republic. Revan can be referenced throughout the sequel, but is not its protagonist. The Exile gradually reconnects with the Force while confronting the Sith Lords Darth Sion, Darth Nihilus, and Darth Traya.
