What is the name of the main character in Madeleine L'Engle's 'A Wrinkle in Time'?

The story behind the answer

Meg Murry is the main character in Madeleine L'Engle's A Wrinkle in Time.

Meg is the oldest child of scientists Alex and Kate Murry. At the start of the 1962 science-fantasy novel, she is struggling at school and coping with the mysterious disappearance of her father. Her frustrations and insecurity make her feel unlike the polished, successful people around her.

Meg travels through space and time with her younger brother Charles Wallace and her friend Calvin O'Keefe. Guided by the strange beings Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, she searches for her father and confronts the oppressive force known as IT on the planet Camazotz.

A common mix-up is choosing Charles Wallace or Calvin because both are essential companions and have unusual abilities or strengths. Meg remains the protagonist, however: the plot follows her emotional growth, her determination to save her family, and her discovery that love is her greatest power.
