What is the name of the lion in 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'?

The story behind the answer

The name of the lion in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is Aslan.

Aslan is the great talking lion who rules and protects the land of Narnia. C. S. Lewis presents him as wise, compassionate, powerful, and mysterious. He guides the Pevensie children and opposes the White Witch, whose magic has trapped Narnia in a long winter.

Aslan is central to the novel’s most important events. He gives his life on the Stone Table in Edmund’s place, then returns to life because of an older magic that reverses the Witch’s power. His death and resurrection are widely understood as an intentional Christian parallel, although Aslan remains a character within Lewis’s fantasy world rather than a direct retelling of the Bible.

A common mix-up is confusing Aslan with Peter, Edmund, or Mr. Tumnus. Peter and Edmund are human characters, while Mr. Tumnus is a faun. Aslan is also the only character to appear in all seven Chronicles of Narnia books.
