The large bay located along the coast of Doha is Doha Bay.
Doha Bay is a broad, semicircular inlet of the Persian Gulf that borders Qatar’s capital. The historic city developed on the bay’s southern shore, while modern Doha has expanded around much of its coastline through land reclamation. The bay is closely associated with Doha’s skyline, waterfront, and maritime identity.
The Doha Corniche follows the bay for about 7 kilometers, linking older districts near Souq Waqif with the modern West Bay business area. Doha Port, Al Rumaila Park, and Sheraton Park also border the waterfront. Palm Tree Island lies near the center of the bay, making it a recognizable feature in views from the Corniche.
A common mix-up is West Bay: it is a modern district on the northern side of Doha Bay, not the name of the entire bay. Al Wakra Bay and Al Khor Bay refer to coastal areas elsewhere in Qatar. Historically, a broad coral bar made access difficult for large vessels, helping explain the importance of later port development in Doha.
