The Instagram Stories feature that lets users create a poll is called the Poll sticker.
A creator adds the sticker to a photo or video in the Stories editor, writes a question and supplies answer choices. Viewers can vote directly inside the Story, while the creator can monitor the responses and see the results as they come in.
Instagram introduced the interactive Poll sticker in October 2017, more than a year after Instagram Stories launched in August 2016. The original version focused on a simple two-option question, making it useful for quick preferences such as choosing an outfit, a meal or a destination.
The Poll sticker is easy to confuse with Instagram’s Question sticker or Quiz sticker. A Question sticker invites written responses, while a Quiz sticker presents a multiple-choice question with a designated correct answer. A Poll sticker is for choosing between options, and its responses are votes rather than open-ended answers or scored quiz results.
