The iconic silver-haired villain in Final Fantasy VII is Sephiroth.
Sephiroth is the main antagonist of the 1997 role-playing game and was once Shinra's most celebrated SOLDIER operative. He is known for his extraordinarily long silver hair, black coat, and the exceptionally long Masamune sword, a visual design that sharply contrasts with Cloud Strife's spiky blond hair and broad Buster Sword.
His descent begins during a mission to Nibelheim, where he discovers that Shinra's experiments involved Jenova, an extraterrestrial life-form. Horrified by what he learns and convinced that Jenova is his mother, Sephiroth turns against humanity and seeks godhood by exploiting the Planet's Lifestream and summoning Meteor.
Players sometimes confuse Sephiroth with other Final Fantasy villains because the series reuses themes such as sorcery, apocalyptic magic, and fallen heroes. Kefka belongs to Final Fantasy VI, Ultimecia to Final Fantasy VIII, and Seymour to Final Fantasy X. Sephiroth remains specifically tied to Final Fantasy VII and its Compilation.
