Frodo Baggins carries the One Ring through most of The Lord of the Rings.
Frodo is Bilbo Baggins’s cousin and adopted heir in the Shire. Bilbo leaves the Ring to Frodo before departing, and Gandalf later discovers that it is the One Ring created by Sauron. Frodo therefore becomes central to the quest to destroy it.
The Council of Elrond assigns Frodo the task of taking the Ring toward Mordor. He is accompanied first by the Fellowship and later by Samwise Gamgee, whose loyalty becomes essential during the journey.
Readers sometimes confuse Frodo with Bilbo because both hobbits possess the Ring at different points in the story. Frodo is the principal Ring-bearer in the trilogy, while Bilbo is the earlier Ring-bearer whose discovery begins the chain of events.
