Jackson Storm is the high-tech racer who challenges Lightning McQueen in Pixar’s Cars 3.
Storm represents a new generation of racers built with advanced technology and modern training methods. He quickly wins races against established competitors, making Lightning realize that experience alone may no longer be enough to remain competitive.
Lightning’s efforts to improve include training with Cruz Ramirez at the Rust-eze Racing Center. Cruz eventually becomes more than a trainer: her own racing ability and ambitions become central to the film’s resolution.
Storm’s character creates a generational conflict rather than a simple good-versus-evil battle. He is arrogant and dismissive, but his role primarily illustrates how professional racing changes over time. The film contrasts his data-driven approach with Lightning’s experience, relationships, and understanding of what racing means to him.
